Top CNA Certification Classes in Oakland | CA CNA Colleges

The responsibilities of a CNA vary from job to job. Those living and working in will find that they have the choice of working for a number of different employers. CNAs who work for hospitals will take vitals of patients, assist nurses in dispensing and administering medications and make patients feel more comfortable. Those who work in a retirement or nursing home will work with patients of an advanced age and those dealing with more complex and serious medical conditions. Prior to applying for a job, students must attend a CNA program.

cna-certification image1CNA Certification in Oakland

California is one of the only states that lowers the age of CNA applicants to 16, which allows those who completed a faster high school course to take the licensing examination. This test covers questions relating to the duties of a CNA, what they should do during different circumstances and medical laws connected to the CNA career. California's test also has a practical section that pairs an applicant with a volunteer to show that they have the skills necessary to work with patients. If the applicant passes the test, he or she can get a license.

California limits who can attend a CNA training program. Anyone enrolling in one of these schools must first go through a background check from the Department of Justice that looks for specific types of crimes. Prior to leaving, instructors will sit down with students and go over a list of 100 or more skills that students should know and understand. The student can only graduate if the instructor gives him or her a passing grade. The CNA programs currently available in Oakland that have approval from the state of California include:
