All applicants must complete an accredited school program, pass a competency test and earn a spot on the Indiana State Nurse Aide Registry. The test that applicants take consists of both a written examination and a field component that looks at how they handle different CNA tasks. The only schools certified by the state are those that require students spend a minimum of 75 hours in clinical rotations and a minimum of 30 hours working with teachers in classroom settings.
