cna-certification image1Certification Requirements

Certification requirements contain 75 hours of classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction. The length and cost of the training vary according to the center. The instruction prepares students to work in a variety of nursing venues. Some nursing homes and other facilities will instruct students free who agree to work at that place upon completion of the course. Upon finishing the curriculum, students must pass the Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation test. After passing the exam, candidates must sign up with the Texas Nurse Aide Registry before accepting a position. In Texas, the nursing aide must renew the license every two years.

Salary and Job Outlook

The average salary for a nursing aide in Texas is $30,683 yearly. According to some estimates, the job outlook in the nursing field will increase by 20% through 2020. A nursing assistant worker can benefit from this growth without going through a much longer and more costly process required in other nursing areas. The job could also lead to a higher paying position. With the boost of the elderly population in America, the demand for all health care workers will increase. While people are living longer now, the quality of life is not improving.
