Top CNA Certification Classes in Albuquerque | NM CNA Colleges

Albuquerque is home to a number of residents of an advanced age. The dry air, high temperatures and lack of humidity make it the perfect place for elderly people to retire. That is why the city is home to so many retirement communities and homes. Those homes and communities have a high need for CNAs who can work with elderly patients, take their blood pressure and check other signs. All of those currently working as certified nursing assistants in New Mexico completed an approved or accredited program.

cna-certification image1CNA Certification in Albuquerque

From the time that students finish their courses to the day they start working can take less than one month. New Mexico has a number of requirements that other states do not. The first is that students pass a background check and go through a competency examination. A licensed therapist will perform a check on the applicant's mental health and ensure that he or she is strong enough mentally to work in this demanding field. Applicants will also need to meet with a doctor and go through a physical examination. After meeting each of those requirements, applicants can apply to take the licensing test and request placement on the New Mexico registry.

Salaries for CNA Certification Jobs in Albuquerque

The cost of living in Albuquerque is relatively low, which is why certified nursing assistants typically make less working in the state than they could make working in another state. A part time CNA will receive an hourly salary of between $10 and $15 an hour. Those who work full time earn an average salary of $22,000 a year. Full time workers generally receive additional perks as well that part time nursing assistants do not, including vacation days and health insurance.
